US Retail Gasoline Average Unchanged on Week at $2.682 Gal
OAKHURST, N.J. (DTN) --- The average price for all formulations of regular
grade gasoline held at a $2.682 gal six-month low for the week-ended Monday
(9/6), marking a 9.4cts increase versus comparable year-ago prices, the Energy
Information Administration reported.
The weekly average is 22.3cts below the 18-month high of $2.905 gal reached
during the week-ended May 10.
Retail gasoline prices dropped in the majority of regions, with prices
averaging the most along the West Coast and the least at the Gulf Coast.
West Coast retail gasoline slid 4.3cts for the week reviewed to $2.995 gal,
which is 0.8cts below the corresponding 2009 period. The Pacific Northwest
average declined 2.9cts to $2.914 gal, marking a gain of 7.6cts versus a year
ago.
In California, retail gasoline prices dropped 5.1cts to $3.041 gal for the
period profiled, with prices in Los Angeles down 4.8cts at $3.030 gal.
Consumers in the state of Washington saw pump prices slide 4.5cts to $3.015
gal, while prices in Seattle shed 4.2cts to $3.00 gal.
At the Gulf Coast, retail gasoline averaged $2.516 gal, a loss of 1.1cts
from the week-ended Aug. 30 but an increase of 11.1cts versus a year ago. The
data showed gasoline pump prices in Texas down 1.4cts on the week at $2.507 gal.
EIA reported retail gasoline prices in the Rocky Mountain region edged up
0.2cts on the week to $2.822 gal.
In the Midwest, gasoline prices at the pump rose 3.8cts to $2.674 gal, while
the average in Minnesota jumped 4.8cts to $2.709 gal. Consumers in Ohio saw
retail gasoline prices soar 7.8cts to $2.706 gal.
Along the East Coast, retail gasoline prices decreased 0.9cts to $2.598 gal,
which is 1.9cts above the comparable week in 2009.
Central Atlantic states posted a 1.7cts weekly price decline to $2.622 gal,
while gasoline pump prices in the Lower Atlantic states dipped 0.2cts to $2.561
gal. In New England, retail gasoline prices declined 1.7cts to $2.659 gal for
the week reviewed.
Retail gasoline prices in New York posted a 2.5cts loss on the week at
$2.766 gal, while prices in Florida declined 1.7cts to $2.590 gal.
